Fast Food Deliveries and Car Insurance

By Anthony M. Peck

Remembering when the "We Deliver" signs went up at many of the local pizza places made me think of car insurance and the rates. Did it make your rates go up if you told them what you did for a living? I would think that it did because you were either trying to beat a timeframe or are trying to get your deliveries done faster so you can get back to the store to make more deliveries since this is how you make your money for the evening. I would think that this would leave you open for the opportunity for frequent accidents or speeding tickets in residential areas.

You are always driving in what appears to be neighborhoods after work hours and taking your eyes off the road because you are looking for an address number on the door, street, or mailbox. During the day you are heading toward business and local companies delivering lunches. This is a great concept and for many a great convenience when it comes to going out in the evening and having food brought in. It also works if you want to have a pizza party or subs at the last minute. There are several things that the driver would need to take into consideration before accepting a position like this at a fast food shop.

What type of car are they driving and does it get good gas mileage. You could find yourself spending more on gas than making money for the day or evening. What does it cost for car insurance and are you making enough to cover your monthly premiums. Do you feel safe driving and delivering in the areas around the shop you work at and is there help available if you need it? Think of the wear and tear on your vehicle, the chances of your car insurance rates increasing because you may be picking up speeding tickets, illegal u-turns traffic tickets, or other traffic infractions. It may look like easy, fast money but once you factor everything else in does it pay the rent and cover the bills? If you are doing it for the extra money or to get you through until something else comes along than this may be the perfect job for you.
